Book Review: Flawed by Shilpa Suraj
Flawed by Shilpa Suraj is the first book of the ‘In Disgrace” series. This is an age-gap romance book that tells the story of two opposite personalities who come together when they are in the worst phase of their life.
After reading Bad Girl Gone Wicked by Shilpa Suraj I want to explore more books by the author. When I came across this book on my Kindle device I immediately downloaded it and started reading.
It turns out to be unputdownable because of the sizzling chemistry between the two main protagonists.
Vaani Jaishankar is the twenty-three-year-old female protagonist of the book. She is a struggling actress who came back to her father’s house in Hyderabad because she ran out of money and found it difficult to stay in Mumbai. She is funny, colorful, young, and full of energy. She had no friends and had a crumbling relationship with her father. The only person she loves in the world is her elder brother Rahul Anna.
On the other hand, the hero of the book is Aditya Khamankar who is a thirty-four-year-old hot and boring accountant. He is dull when it comes to his home, routine, and personal life. The reason behind this is his everyday struggles in his personal life.
Unlike Vaani, Aditya shared a warm relationship with her father Shravan Jaishankar. There are very few characters in the book which is something I love about the book.
The two main characters of the book seem real and they slowly get unlayered as the story progresses. I just love the way two opposites come together to cover each other’s flaws to shine high in their personal and professional life.
Through this book, the author throws light on the importance of parenting in building a person’s life. Both Vaani and Aditya had crumbled relationships with their parents. This is the only thing common in their life. The author has also given a glimpse of the dark side of current-day reality shows and the struggles of new actors.
The book flows at a butter-smooth pace and keeps the readers involved in the story with a little twist and turn. The author has wonderfully described everyday small office life. The situations of the junior employees and the way they receive humiliation from their bosses for small routine mistakes.
This book describes modern-day relationships through age-gap romance breaking stereotypes that still exist in Indian society. I am eagerly waiting to read Lost the second book in the series.
If you love reading contemporary romance books then I would highly recommend you to read Flawed by Shilpa Suraj.
