Book Review | Dilli Darbar by Satya Vyas
Dilli Darbar book by Satya Vyas is full of fun, entertainment, and love. The story is written in new Hindi with a handful of English words in between. The book is written for new generation readers and the language used by the characters and various twists and turns matches with real life.
The story of Dilli Darbar book by Satya Vyas highlights the life of two young friends who are confused about their life and move to Dilli from Tatanagar (Jharkhand) to escape from their family and to do an MBA.
Mohit, the best friend of the main protagonist Rahul is the narrator of the story. The main protagonist is the hero with many flaws. Rahul unlike his best friend is interested only in girls and looks for shortcuts. Rahul believes in using shortcuts and hacks to accomplish all the important tasks in his life. When it comes to girls he has the magical power to impress them in one go. Due to all these qualities, he easily got adjusted to Dilli, unlike his best friend.
Although he does unfair things, Rahul maintains his calm when a situation goes out of hand to find a way out. That is something I like about him.
Mohit, the narrator is studious and lives up to his principles. Mohit is a man with a golden heart who keeps the hero on track by showing him the right path. Due to his introverted nature, he takes time to adjust in Delhi. Sometimes, in front of his best friend, his values take a backseat and help him in all his dishonest tasks.
Paridhi is the daughter of landlord Batuk Sharma. She is a mature character and is head over heels in love with Rahul.
Batuk Sharma, the landlord who lives downstairs with his family of three is one funny character who brings fun and entertainment doses in the story through his desi English language.
The author has wonderfully written the plot and it seems difficult to guess the next move. I was completely absorbed in the story and finished it in one sitting. The author has also highlighted the money and adjustment problems that most middle-class students face when they move to the big cities for higher studies.
I love the flow of the story but unlike Banaras Talkies, I find the city of Delhi missing. Otherwise, it is a good and well-researched book where the author has celebrated friendship. There are chances few people may not agree with the unfair steps taken by the two main characters of the story. But, ultimately the author has described reality and has shown the other side of the mirror. The English translation of Dilli Darbar book by Satya Vyas is also available on Amazon.
Overall, it is a lovely story and I will highly recommend it to people who love reading Hindi fiction books that are spiked with love, fun, friendship, and entertainment.
