Book Review: Limitless Book by Jim Kwik
I love reading books and want to read more and more books. My quest for reading forced me to pick up the Limitless book by Jim Kwik.
The books begin with the journey of Jim Kwik’s life.
“That’s the boy with the broken brain.”
This is what teachers, people, and the author himself think about him. But the author leaves this tag behind during his college years.
Jim Kwik explains, “The brain is capable of being molded and shaped, meaning that at any point anyone can decide to change the way their brain functions.”
The author gives hope to all his readers and followers that anyone can get success in life irrespective of their troubled upbringing.
Kwik has discussed a lot about the harmful side effects of social media, looking for things online, and how these things impact our relationships with other people in the real world.
Jim Kwik also talked about “Gut Feeling” in the book. As per the author, when you feel that something is not right, it is not a superstition, there is a science behind it. The gut has its way to interpret different situations and send a signal to the brain.
Author Jim Kwik shares the “Pomodoro” technique. When it comes to learning this technique works best. According to this technique, work for 25 minutes on any task and then take a 5 minute break. I find this technique very effective and interesting.
Jim Kwik suggests 10 superfoods that will help generate brain energy. They are Blueberries, Eggs, Avocados, Salmon, Green leafy vegetables, sardines, caviar, turmeric, walnuts, Dark chocolate, Broccoli, and water.
Many times, we blame ourselves for procrastinating and not doing it properly, in that situation the author suggests being kind to yourself. In that situation try to do the task in bits and pieces.
The book also suggests some of the ways to build habits and how to overcome old habits. A person needs motivation, ability, and effective prompts to break from a bad habit.
Jim Kwik also discusses the positive mindset and its benefits of it to empower with limitless beliefs. He suggests replacing old beliefs with new beliefs.
The book does not support the idea of rot learning that we do in school. The author suggested a new method to remember things that will help you to learn things more easily.
The author says there is no such thing as a good or bad memory. It is always a trained and untrained memory. We have to train our brains to remember things in a better way.
At the end of each lesson, the author asks a few questions, gives suggestions for taking action, or reminds us in brief what we learn from that lesson.
He also suggests the importance of the morning routine. He suggests thinking about your dreams before you get out of your bed. Because many geniuses in history get their best ideas in their dreams.
Multitasking, stress, fear of failure, and lack of conviction are the four supervillains that will disturb you from achieving flow.
In current times, more and more people prefer to watch videos instead of reading. According to the author, reading is the best exercise for the brain. He has also given the benefits of reading and also suggested many techniques that will help you to improve your reading speed.
I found this book inspirational and I am sure I am going to reread it many times.
Book Summary: Limitless Book by Jim Kwik
This amazing book by Jim Kwik is full of learning and I discovered many new things from this book. Here I am sharing 9 powerful lessons that I learned from the Limitless book written by Jim Kwik.
- Plasticity means that your learning and indeed life is not fixed. There is no limitation when you apply the right mindset, motivation, and method.
- Questions direct your focus, so they play into everything in life-even reading and comprehension. Most people don’t ask enough questions when they read and they compromise their focus, understanding, and retention. If you prepare your mind with the right kind of questions before you read, you will see answers everywhere.
- “The inner critic isn’t harmless. It inhibits you, limits you, and stops you from pursuing the life you truly want to live. It robs you of peace of mind and emotional well-being and, if left unchecked long enough, it can even lead to serious mental health problems like depression or anxiety,” as suggested in the Limitless Book by Jim Kwik.
- Identify your limiting beliefs, check on the reality behind that belief, and then generate a new empowering belief that is true and also a helpful one.
- Multitasking, stress, fear of failure, and lack of conviction are the four supervillains that will disturb you from achieving flow.
- Try to do one task at a time. This will help you to boost your concentration. Declutter your workspace and remove all distractions to improve your concentration.
- Cramming is not at all useful. Concentrating on one subject for long hours makes it less possible to remember it.
- Try to make notes of whatever you are learning. While taking notes don’t write everything. Take notes with a clear goal in mind. After reviewing what you have written, this will help you to retain all the information.
- The brain is a use-it-or-lose-it device. To keep it fit we have to make lots of concrete efforts. You have to make efforts to improve your memory.
