Book Review: The Third Party by Vithika Agarwal

The Third Party by Vithika Agarwal is the story of Sara whose life is no different from most Indian women who live in big cities. She is happily married, blessed with a daughter, and works as a travel consultant.

I have never come across a fiction that is full of learning and changed my perspective towards life.

It is a well-written book keeping in mind the thought process of most Indians. The book is full of motivational quotes. You can read them on my Pinterest profile knowledgesagabooks.

The author has also thrown light on the change in the thought process of Indians in current times. Somewhere I don’t agree with them but after reading The Third Party by Vithika Agarwal I completely respect other people’s points of view toward life and marriage.

Sara is the main protagonist in the book. This book is the journey of Sara’s life. She is the one character that is fully evolved in the book. She always acknowledges her problems with her loved ones. This is something that I learned from Sara’s character. Her character resonates with current-day Indian women. Her struggles in life are no different from the problems that most Indian women face during their lives.

The way Sara shares her deep secrets with her father and friends completely touched my heart. Whenever she is depressed and going through a tough phase in her life. She always tried to bounce back to life by running Marathons, going to the Himalayas, taking up yoga, or going to the ashram to heal herself. This is something that is the need of the time.

Rahul is a good husband and a devoted father. I know a few of his choices betrayed Sara and Riya. But he never ran away from his duties and responsibilities and always stood by her family in tough times. This is something that I loved about the character of Rahul.

Samar’s and Tanya’s viewpoints on open marriage status are something that I can’t agree with. I know the reason behind this is my Indian upbringing. The way author Vithika Agarwal explained it in the book completely changed my perspective on it. From now onwards I will never look down upon people who follow or wish to follow this type of arrangement in their marriage.

In the book The Third Party by Vithika Agarwal, the author has explained open marriage arrangements in detail. I know like me many of the readers do not agree with it. After reading in depth about it I honestly felt that there is nothing wrong in following it if your loved ones remain unaffected by it.

The end of the book filled my eyes with tears. I learned the best lesson of my life after reading this book is that never judge people on the basis of the choices they make in their lives. I feel so grateful that I came across this book and read it on my kindle unlimited subscription. I will highly recommend reading The Third Party by Vithika Agarwal once in your life.
