The Sanskari Girlfriend by Jiganshu Sharma is an interesting read that defines the complexities of modern-day relationships which are still powered by Indian culture. This contemporary romance tells the story of Aarya who wants to enjoy her life a little more outside the protective and loving environment of her home.
Attracted by the title and cover of the book while I was on a hunt for my next read I ended up downloading and reading this book on my e-reader.
The book begins well and flows smoothly keeping the reader engrossed in the life of simple, young, and mature Aarya Sharma. The author wonderfully designed the characters in the story that represent the real humans of India.
Aarya Sharma is a normal Indian girl brought up in Delhi. She is working in the Central Bank. She is very mature, loving, and caring, and follows her mom’s instructions and her heart. I love her maturity and the way she fights for her love instead of accepting the circumstances is truly heartwarming. Aarya’s inner talk was fun to read. Her character resonates with every Indian girl.
Shekhar Sarkar is a businessman from Goa and is head over heels in love with Aarya. He is hot, crazy, mature, good-looking, and seductive. I love his caring nature and he always treated Aarya like a true gentleman.
Sarla Sharma is one character that represents every mom. I love her caring, worrying, and attention-seeking nature. She does all the melodrama like a true Indian mother. She pampered Aarya a lot and filled her bags with lots of food.
Most parts of the story take place in Goa and Delhi and the author has wonderfully covered the vibes of both places and things were explained in detail and precisely.
Initially, the story kept on jumping between the past and present but it was not confusing. The author has used simple English language to write this interesting book. The story reveals the dilemma of a Sanskari Indian girl who falls in love with a man from some other community.
All the tension followed by murder and tragedy makes this book a very interesting read. The story flows nicely as Aarya starts joining puzzles of the missing pieces. I love the way she writes everything down to solve almost all the problems of her life.
I believe every book teaches you something new and writing down your problem is a very helpful technique. This way problems remain in your mind and you will easily reach the solution. This is my takeaway from the book The Sanskari Girlfriend by Jiganshu Sharma.
Some of the details about the working culture of a bank I find interesting sometimes and other times a little boring. Apart from a few editing errors I didn’t find any flaws in the book.
Overall, it is a simple book that is full of love, emotion, drama, suspense, and tragedy. I will highly recommend The Sanskari Girlfriend by Jiganshu Sharma to all Indian girls and women who love reading romance novels on their e-readers.

Aarya Sharma was working at the Central Bank in Delhi. She received a promotion with a transfer to the Calangute branch in Goa. Here, she met Shekher Sarkar, a handsome businessman. Aarya and Shekher fell in love with each other instantly.
She went to Italy with her boyfriend whom she had been dating for the last four months and recently married him in a small church. They spent their first night after marriage in Venice. In the morning when Aarya woke up, Shekher was missing. She thought maybe he had gone outside to get breakfast for her and tried to contact him, but his phone number was blocked.
When she went to seek help with the hotel staff, they said she came alone and even CCTV footage shows she came alone in the hotel.
At the airport, Aarya tried to fetch details of her co-passenger, and this time too details of Shekher, who came with her were missing. This confused Aarya and she thought that maybe she was hallucinating. When she checked her phone their pictures and call details were also missing from her phone.
Did Aarya accept her fate?
Did she hallucinate her time with Shekher?
Why did Sheker leave her alone in Venice?
