Author Satya Vyas has wonderfully sketched all the characters who seem real and you will find many variations of them in different hostels throughout India. Just like the Yupi 65 book, the story of this book also takes place in Banaras and explains the life of ghats wonderfully.
Banaras Talkies by Satya Vyas is one book that reminds me of my college days while reading it. The book brings different realistic characters and incidents that you have experienced during your college days.
The author has wonderfully explained the point of view of most students who love to stay outside the class rather than inside and yet they manage to pass the exams using many different ideas and shortcuts.
I didn’t feel bored for a single minute while reading this book. The book managed to keep me hooked on the story.
The author has used idiomatic language to add the vibe of Banarasi language and a fun element to the story. A few rough words used by the writer may disturb some readers but overall it is a well-written book that flows smoothly. I never felt bored for one minute while reading this book. I was laughing while reading a few incidents.

इस कहानी का घर बनारस हिन्दू यूनिवर्सिटी की भगवानदास होस्टेल हैं. इस कहानी में तीन मुख्य किरदार हैं. पहला सूरज जिसको सिर्फ लड़कियों में दिलचस्पी हैं, दूसरा अनुराग डे उर्फ़ दादा जो सिगरेट फूँकते हैं और एक ही चीज को लेकर सीरियस हैं और वो हैं क्रिकेट, तीसरा और आखरी किरदार हैं जयवर्धन जो हर सवाल के जवाब की शुरुआत घंटा शब्द से करते हैं.
कहानी में सत्य व्यास जी ने मुहावरों और बनारसी भाषा का खुल के प्रयोग किया हैं. यह कहानी हर हिन्दुस्तानी छात्र को अपने कॉलेज के दिनों की याद दिलाने वाली हैं , जिन्होंने इन दिनों को खुल के जिया हैं.
दादा की तरह हर होस्टेल में कुछ छात्र सिगरेट पीते हैं, तो अन्य की नज़र सूरज की तरह सिर्फ कॉलेज की लड़कियों पर होती हैं.
