Book Review: Married in Hate by Shilpa Suraj

Married in Hate by Shilpa Suraj is a contemporary romance novel featuring handsome CEO Aarush Reddy and beautiful chief minister’s daughter Priyanka Kodela. Through this story, the author throws light on the problems that most newly married couples face after marriage due to lack of communication.

I like the cover and title of the story which goes perfectly with the plot. The name of the series also fits perfectly with the flow of the story, the emotions of the characters, and their relationship with their parents.

The story is told from the point of view of male and female protagonists Aarush Reddy and Dr. Priyanka Kodela.

Dr. Priyanka Kodela is a beautiful, educated, and understanding daughter of the sitting chief minister of the state. She always follows her parent’s orders and shares bitter relationships with her parents. Her mother considers her a useless girl who doesn’t know how to dress nicely as per her family status.

Aarush Reddy is the CEO of the Laxmi Builder. He ran away to America after betraying the girl whom he loved since he was fourteen. He seems arrogant and short-tempered from the outside but inside his heart is filled with love for Priyanka. The way he stands for Priyanka against his parents is something that every educated woman expects from his husband. This is something which is still lacking in most families in our country.

The bonding of Priyanka with her siblings Agastya and Harsh is heart-warming. The bold and straight attitude that Aarush shares with her younger sister Aadhya Reddy is worth admiring.

I love the pair of male and female protagonists. They seem like a match made in heaven just a little out of track for some time to tell their love story that had to pass the test of hate. The author has highlighted one important point: In current times still many marriages are fixed by parents in India without asking their children.

Some of them are fixed for business benefits without obtaining consent from boys and girls who are going to spend their whole lives together without knowing each other.

The author had wonderfully written the emotions of Priyanka in the book Married in Hate by Shilpa Suraj. I was feeling each of her emotions while going through her hate journey of marriage. Telugu marriage traditions were fun to read and the use of some Telugu words in the story gives a glimpse of thorough research from the author’s side before writing this gripping tale of love and hate.

There is a lot of family drama in the story which adds fun and learning. Priyanka stands for her career after marriage, this is something that requires a lot of guts and honesty. I too learned my lesson from the bold and educated female protagonist.

I fully enjoyed reading this one and now I am eagerly waiting to read Agastya and Veda’s story in the Dynasty Rebels series.

If you love reading contemporary romance novels then I will highly recommend you to read Married in Hate by Shilpa Suraj.
