Book Review: Prem Milan Kaife by Charan Singh
The cover of the story and the authors’ background forces me to pick up this book.
Prem Milan Kaife sets in Kanpur, and as the Author hails from Kanpur, he very well covers the places, language, and culture of the city in the book.
The book started with a talk between Prema and her mother. This was the usual mother-daughter conversation done in most Indian families. Most of us love to see and enjoy these types of conversations in many movies and daily soaps.
Prema’s meeting and conversation with Basant Gupta show the orthodox thinking of people that still exists in Indian society in most communities of India. People mostly want to marry a girl for just doing household chores and taking care of their family. They don’t want a modern working woman as their life partner.
This story is about Prema. She is a very confused protagonist in the story. Her confusion forced her to make wrong decisions in her life. I find Prema’s confusion in her life more realistic. Most of the time people get confused in their life at some point and make wrong decisions even being good human beings.
Dr. Kapil Sinha is also one of the characters that I loved the most. He is a good doctor and a caring husband. His love and trust for his life partner made me fall for him. Although being a good-hearted person, Kapil faces lots of problems in life. I think sometimes good people also have to fight for love and happiness.
The author also shows the challenges that newly married couples face due to a lack of communication. Communication plays a very important role in making a marriage successful.
The author throws light on the emotional turmoil people face during covid pandemic especially the situation of the doctors and nurses.
In the book, Prem Milan Kaife by Charan Singh, the author has thrown light on many social and personal problems that most Indian millennials face in their life, especially because of their cultural background.
The story started well but I found it boring and almost predictable in the other half. The story flows smoothly but I find the suspense part is missing from the story.
Overall, if you love reading Hindi fiction love stories with a love triangle and a lot of drama then you can pick Prem Milan Kaife by Charan Singh.
